Lithuania and the rest of the Baltic States first of new Schengen members

On the 21st of December Lithuania, together with 8 other new EU member states, joined the Schengen area - a territory with no checks at internal borders formed by 24 States. These States apply uniform rules concerning entry and short stays in their territories. The Schengen Zone now encompasses a vast visa-free area for 400 million Europeans throughout 24 countries, from Portugal and Spain to Estonia and Finland.

For Altabel Group directly it is one more step towards closer cooperation with Western-European countries in the area of high-quality software development services delivery.

Since the moment when Lithuania became the member of the European Union, our company has boosted the European initiative to enhance geographic and job to job mobility for workers in the EU. Mobility is more and more perceived as a key instrument to create employment and economic growth, as well as enhancing the personal development of workers in the EU.

The purpose of the initiative is to create a European network of companies and organizations committed to the values of job mobility and to the development of a mobility culture within the European labor market. The network will aim to help these organisations to co-operate with each other.

Thus, being a member of the European Union and now of the Schengen zone enable Altabel as a company headquarted in Lithuania, provide our experienced resources in any part of the European Economic Area (EEA) without any territorial and legislative obstacles.

We hold strong belief, that hiring workers from other countries of the EEA can provide businesses with the opportunity to find motivated and skilled workers, especially in the case of national work force shortages in specific economic sectors. It can also contribute to increasing corporate innovation and competitiveness.
